We are one week after the protest. The final tally is 0.0881 BTC ($29.14 USD or 7,171 HUF).
We would like to thank everyone in the crowd who donated. Most of this is from them.
To try to get more donations locally and internationally, we have done the following:
Posted it on a Hungarian forum (prohardver.hu)
Posted it on another Hungarian forum (bitcoin.hu/forum - the post was removed)
Created this website with the pictures from the protest
Tried to post on /r/Bitcoin - (no response from two of the moderators we tried to get permission from)
Posted it on one of the UK's largest marketplaces (Twitter feed and the top of the /buy page)
We have only received an extra 0.007 BTC after the international campaign. The cost of the QR code and flyer printing was closer to ~8,000 HUF out of my own pocket, but I consider that my personal donation and do not want to take it back.
We have sent numerous emails to the organisers, as they were supposed to be the recipients of the donations. They have not replied as of this date. We have offered to send the bitcoins to an address of their choice, to give it in cash, or to send it to their bank account. Their bank account information isn't up on Facebook, at least we couldn't find it.
As it currently stands, the organisers are not allowing us to give them the bitcoins or their value. Our fallback plan is to use the donations for promoting Bitcoin the next time an opportunity arises. Until then, the coins sent to the address will not be touched. If in the meantime the organisers should reply to our emails, we will be happy to send the funds to them.
